Today, Netflix released a four-part documentary, How to Change Your Mind, based on a book of the same name by New York Times bestselling author, Michael Pollan

For many, it’ll be an introduction to the life-changing potential of psychedelic medicine, and psychedelic therapy programs. For others, a fresh look at modern mental health treatment options, like ketamine therapy, and the latest research.

One powerful aspect of ketamine therapy is that it’s shown to help individuals “change their minds,” and transform their lives.

To help demonstrate how ketamine therapy can change your mind, we’d like to share five client anecdotes about their Mindbloom experience. These stories are republished with their permission, and honor their request for anonymity.

Mindbloom clients on how ketamine therapy changed their minds, and lives

1. It helped them perceive themselves differently, and become someone who works towards action

“My Mindbloom sessions have helped me see myself differently — something 30 years of talk therapy couldn’t do! [It gave me] the ability to overcome inertia and get on with things instead of being consumed by worry and doubt.”

- M.W, Mindbloom Client

The ability to take on a new, healthier perspective after decades of worry and self-doubt can be incredibly freeing. Mindbloom clients often mention a “new lease on life,” some by seeing themselves in a more empowering light.

Being restricted by challenging emotions can often cause stagnation in someone's life. The ability to take decisive action —in spite of doubt, fear, or challenging emotions— is foundational to reducing stress in your life.

Thank you for sharing, M.W!

2. It changed their mind about ketamine therapy’s approachability and efficacy

"I was a little skeptical about starting this program but I was so desperate to feel better that I put faith in trying something new. I'm so glad I did! I was experiencing severe anxiety, depression, and anger as a result of unresolved PTSD. I wasn't responding well to SSRIs or SNRIs. They made me feel sick. My life got so out of my control that I doubted it would ever get better.

This program has helped me feel calmer and in better control of my reactions to triggers. Things that would have previously caused a panic attack and a day of shame and recovery now don't feel so terrifying."

- B.R., Mindbloom Client

Given how entrenched older treatment methods have become, initial skepticism around modern forms of treatment like ketamine therapy is natural. Research has shown however, that ketamine has fewer side effects and faster response rates when compared to psychiatric medicines like SSRIs.

After completing a program, Mindbloom clients often become enthusiastic ambassadors for ketamine treatment, and openly share their experience with friends and loved ones.

Thank you for sharing, B.R!

3. Ketamine treatment helped them break out of thought spirals, and take back control of their life

“It's really helped me to better sort through my thoughts. It's helped me to realize I am not my thoughts. And it's helped me harness the power to create the reality we all experience. It's just eye and mind-opening. I think anyone & everyone could benefit for even just one session at least.”

- Tyler, Mindbloom Client

Tyler said it beautifully. What better way to change your mind, than to change your opinion of yourself, your strength, and the beauty of a new future?

They recognized their own agency, and power to affect positive change in their own life.

Thank you for sharing, Tyler!

4. It helped them begin the healing process, and integrate healthier habits

“Mindbloom has helped me open myself in order to heal. Instead of struggling to stay afloat on an antidepressant regimen that was simply keeping me stable,

I now see the potential for growth. My [Mindbloom] clinician saw my desire for actual change, and my [Mindbloom] guide helped and encouraged me to set healthy goals and integrate them. This program is not a miracle cure, but I feel it has given me so many tools and the capacity to use them.

Several months ago, I never dreamed I would be in the mental state I am currently in, and I'm incredibly grateful. Thank you for making this available and affordable to regular people like me, it is life-changing, and it is life-saving!”

- A.E., Mindbloom Client

We wanted to highlight this anecdote from A.E for a simple reason: Changing your mind doesn’t have to be an earth-shattering revelation.

Sometimes the most powerful seeds of positive change are planted in the smaller, more subtle shifts in behavior. Renewed, authentic motivation to change puts you in the best position to take control of your life.

Thank you for sharing, A.E!

5. Mindbloom helped them feel happiness, and like themselves again

“I am absolutely blown away by my experience with Mindbloom.

I was told it could change my life but, I have to admit, I was skeptical. I have been dealing with depression for years and have been to therapy over the years with varying success. I was desperate for another solution after going through some significant trauma. I was in a very dark place and willing to try almost anything to get out of it.

From my first treatment, I felt lighter and better than I have felt in years. It almost felt too good to be true, like something was wrong. I realized I had been feeling so heavy for so long that I forgot what it felt like to feel happiness.

The feeling has not gone away, but what is more remarkable is the flood of changes I have suddenly been able to easily make in my life. My diet has improved, I have stopped drinking, and I am meditating regularly. I feel like it is so much easier to take steps to improve my life with this treatment.

Before starting [Mindbloom] I was desiring and attempting to take steps in this direction, but overall unable to due to feeling overwhelmed and lacking motivation and hope. I feel like I got a new lease on life.

I cannot explain how blessed I feel to have stumbled across this treatment. I so much prefer this method than going on and off of antidepressants for months and months and dealing with wild swinging chemical imbalances in my brain.

This seems so much more natural and effective, and the results have been mind-blowing. I feel sort of like a new person, but a better way to describe it is that I feel like myself again, and I almost forgot what that felt like. Thank you Mindbloom, for changing my life. I will be forever grateful.”

- M.S, Mindbloom Client

This anecdote from M.S. highlights the positive domino effect that results from minor changes in your mind and attitude.

Feeling deep happiness and peace in your life again can help positive, long-lasting changes take root. Diet, lifestyle, and relationship changes all owe their development to smaller, yet significant changes in their mind and behavior.

Thank you for sharing, M.S.!
